Competency Training

Entry-Level Training - Level 1

Duration: 2 Days

Overview:

This course is designed for entry-level students or untrained operators interested in or pursuing a career as a heavy equipment operator. It will provide a base foundation for students to develop their skills to operate equipment safely and proficiently. The course can be conducted at Carolina Cat or the customer’s facility (determined upon classroom and equipment availability). Upon completion, a Caterpillar training certificate will be provided.

Walk-around Inspections
ISO symbols
Monitoring systems
Warning categories and operator reactions
Proper start-up and shut down procedures
Machine controls
Basic operating techniques

Professional Training - Level 2

Duration: 2 Days

Overview:

This course is designed for refinement and enhancement of experienced operator skills and can be conducted at a Carolina Cat branch or the customer’s facility (determined upon classroom and equipment availability). Upon completion, a Caterpillar training certificate will be provided.

Students are required to have successfully completed level 1 course.

Refining operating techniques
Learning application tips and information
Monitoring systems
Control familiarization and applications
Additional supervised equipment operation ("stick time")
Coaching to fine-tune experienced operator skills

Mobile Simulator Training

Overview:

Carolina Cat Equipment Simulator Training provides a way for new operators to gain familiarization of machine controls, learn proper operating procedures, and develop safe habits before training on actual machines. The simulated environment offers a safe place to learn and make mistakes without harm to the jobsite, machines, or personnel, without burning fuel, and keeping equipment in production. Training is available at any of our store locations as well as customer locations/jobsites.

Simulator Rental

Safety Training

Mobile Elevated Platform

Duration: 1 Day

Mobile Elevated Work Platform Operator Training is a full day class with classroom instruction that includes discussion of ANSI regulations, as well as boom and scissor lift operation requirements. You will be emailed scanned copies of the training roster, completed tests, certificates of course completion, and participant evaluations upon payment.

Objectives:

This class will meet the OSHA/ANSI 92 requirement, which includes changes or additions to the items below:

Perform a site risk assessment
Proper selection of suitable MEWP
Support surface adequate to support the weight of the MEWP
All maintenance requirements and repairs per manufacturer
Only trained and authorized operators permitted to operate the MEWP
Familiarize qualified operators for the specific MEWP
Operator understanding of site requirements and hazards
Train supervisors who monitor MEWP operators’ performance
Prevent unauthorized use of the MEWP
Ensure safety of all personnel in the area
Maintain all documentation (maintenance and training)

Machine Overview

Duration: Half Day

Overview:

Machine operation introduction is a half day class where operators learn the importance of daily machine safety and maintenance inspections, ISO symbols, and basic machine controls/operator interface. The training starts in a classroom environment where the operation and maintenance manual is reviewed and then class moves to the machine. Walk-around inspection is performed and then operator controls and operator interface are reviewed. Stick time is available for participants.
